Visitors to the Cité de l'Automobile can discover or rediscover significant cars in history over 3 periods :
- Forerunners and early motor vehicles - 1885 to 1905 : visitors learn about the journey from the sleigh to the car with one of the first bicycles or the De Dion Bouton. The mechanical evolution had begun...
- The golden age of the car - 1905 to 1939 : from the Marne taxi to the pre-war cars – these cars show how the forms and production techniques developed.
- Cars for all - 1945 to 1970 : after the Second World War, the car became more accessible and was the essential object of the 20th century (2CV, Beetle).
