Lamborghini, an icon of popular culture

A Lamborghini is not merely an extraordinary and fast car, a unique piece of design, or an exceptional concentration of technology. A Lamborghini promises speed, power, and luxury; it is a dream car, an image car, and sometimes a fantasy. Chosen by the most prominent figures, they have become stars in the automotive world.

From Miles Davis to Pope Francis, the Shah of Iran, Michael Jordan, Rod Stewart, the princes of Monaco, Paul McCartney, Donald Trump, Christophe, Johnny Hallyday, Jay-Z, Kim Kardashian, Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay, and Guy Berryman, a member of the group Coldplay, Lamborghinis have always caught the eyes of artists and prominent figures of the day. They have starred in music videos and films.

By bringing together the brand’s flagship models, designed by renowned coachbuilders and designers, rare archive material, and creative works, via the world of rock and landmark films, the exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the legendary marque.

Rare vehicles, such as the Miura, which featured in the film The Italian Job (1969), the P140 concept car, the Lamborghini Design 90 motorcycle, the spectacular Huracan Evo Spyder, and the conceptual reinterpretation of an Urraco by the French designer and architect Tristan Auer shed new light on the brand’s unique charm.

The exhibition adopts a transversal approach to an innovative avant-garde marque that has established a distinctive identity in the GT and supercar market through the uniqueness of its cars and its predilection for speed. Representing the spirit of freedom, a hedonistic fantasy, the marque continues to make unique cars, in a rapidly changing era; the Cité de l’Automobile considers these qualities as an important element in the current debate on transport.

The exhibition’s scenography has been designed as a journey through the history of the marque with the ‘Charging Bull’ emblem. It plays on mirror effects, the triangular shape that evokes the dynamism of the super cars, the sensation of speed, and light effects (LED lighting, neon lighting effects, etc.).

 

 

 

Alongside the exhibition

Drive a Lamborghini
- During the exhibition, visitors will have an opportunity to drive a dream car on the Cité de l’Automobile’s motor racing circuit: the 1974 Lamborghini Urraco (€90 for 7 laps of the racing circuit) and the 2016 Huracan Spyder LP610-4 (€120 for 7 laps of the racing circuit).
- Every day, a visitor selected at random will be able to start the V10 engine of a Huracan Spyder in the heart of the exhibition and drive it to the racing circuit.

The ‘Tag my Lamborghini’ competition
Conceive and design the body of the Huracan EVO RWD, exhibited in the museum.
In September, a jury of experts will select the best body design.
The winner will be able to tag the car with the design that he/she has created.
The designs must be placed in the museum shop’s competition submission box.
