Cars after 1950 - Modern Times

Maserati Type 300 S

1955
Code 1210
Body style: two-seat sportscar

The Maserati brothers were in financial trouble, having spent so much on racing, and were forced to sell their business to an industrialist, Orsi. In 1953, he took on an engineer, Colombo, who had already worked successfully for Alfa Romeo and Ferrari.
The 300 S sportscars, with an engine derived from the 8-cylinder single-seater racers, went head to head with Ferrari for the world sportscar constructor championship, whose prestige and commercial impact was continuing to increase. Many large private teams ran single-seater or two-seater Maseratis, like this 300 S, which was used by the Centro-Sud team.
