Cars from 1920 to 1950 - The golden age of the car
Alfa Roméo Type 8C 2, 9 B
1938
Code 1118
Body style: two-seat racer
The development of a 2900 cc engine for the 8C was a masterstroke by designer Vittorio Jano. This Alfa Romeo, known as the P3, swept the board in Formula Grand Prix, with the help of the organisational skills and ferocious will to win of Enzo Ferrari, who had become Racing Director of the team that now bore his name.
In the Sportscar Class, 8C 2900Bs won victories in the Mille Miglia and many other prestigious races. There are around fifteen of the cars left, including this version, which won the 24 Hours of Spa in 1938, driven by Pintacuda and Severri.
